Dark Blue Festival
Since 1989, the Dark Blue Festival has been breaking down the invisible barriers between the worlds of sighted and visually impaired people.
The 36th edition of the festival will take place in Brno from 30 September to 2 October 2026, and preparations for this year’s programme are already well underway.
The Dark Blue Festival is a unique cultural event that creates opportunities for children and young people with visual impairments to meet, learn, and collaborate through the arts. It provides a safe and inspiring environment where participants can develop their skills, share experiences, and build new friendships.
The programme is traditionally tailored to the needs of participants and includes music workshops, educational activities, and specially adapted experiences such as tactile tours of the collections of the Moravian Gallery.
Since 2024, students and teachers from elementary arts schools have also taken an active part in the festival, helping to foster mutual understanding, respect, and social awareness between the wider community and young people with disabilities.
The detailed programme for this year’s edition will be announced during the summer.
The festival is organised by TIC Brno and the Magdalena Kožená Foundation Fund.
