Browse photographs from the final day of the ZUŠ Open 2026 festival, held on Children's Day, Monday, 1 June 2026, in the Wallenstein Garden of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
The packed programme featured a wide range of musical and dance performances presented by approximately 800 students from 40 elementary arts schools. The day also included creative art workshops for visitors of all ages.
The highlight of the festival was the gala evening concert, featuring works by Bohuslav Martinů, Leoš Janáček, Colin Mawby, and Witold Lutosławski. The programme culminated in Spring Celebrations by Otmar Mácha, a large-scale vocal-instrumental work performed by 350 choristers from across the Czech Republic under the direction of the legendary choirmaster Professor Jiří Chvála. The performance was further enriched by choreography by Živana Vajsarová, performed by the dance ensemble Jaro.
The children's choirs from elementary arts schools were joined by the Kühn Children's Choir, to whom the composer dedicated the work. Other performers included the Pardubice Elementary Arts Schools Orchestra, acclaimed pianist Karel Košárek, violist and conductor Jiří Kabát, and soprano Irena Pohl Houkalová.
